Duties and Responsibilities


Established by the Florida Constitution in 1838, the Clerk of the Circuit and County Court is the locally elected constitutional officer who serves as the “public trustee”, putting into motion the county level system of “checks and balances” between the people, the judiciary, and the executive and legislative branches of government.  The office of the Clerk is charged with a multiplicity of duties by law.  In addition to serving as Clerk of the Court, the Clerk also serves as clerk and accountant to the Board of County Commissioners and county auditor.
