The tax deed sale process begins with the tax certificate (a/k/a
lien) sale
that is held by the Tax Collector.
In Martin County the tax certificate sales are held during the last
week of May
or June 1st, and advertised in either the Palm Beach Post or the
Stuart News
once a week for three (3) weeks prior to the sale. Bidding begins at
approximately
9:00 a.m., but registration begins at 8:00 a.m.

Sale at Public Auction in Florida: Beginning- FS 197.502 The tax deed sale process for the actual property is activated when
a certificate holder files an Application for Tax Deed with the Tax Collector's
Office.
Tax deed sales are held randomly as applied for by the certificate
holders.
They are advertised in the Friday edition of the Stuart News, once a
week for
four (4) consecutive weeks prior to the sale. The sales are normally
held at
1:00 p.m. or during the regular hours the clerk's office is open.
The sales are a Public Auction held at the Martin County Court House
complex,
1st floor of the Constitutional Office Building, Jury Management
Room,
100 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart, Fl. 34994.
The public sale begins with the bid of the certificate holder as an
opening bid and
is sold to the highest bidder. If there are no bidders at the sale,
the property is
struck off to the certificate holder.
The successful high bidder shall post with the clerk a
nonrefundable cash
deposit of $200.00 at the time of the sale, to be applied to the
sale price at the time
of full payment. The balance of the full payment of the final bid
and of
documentary stamp tax and recording fees (cash, certified funds, or
cashier check)
must be paid within 24 Hours. Upon receipt of payment in full, a Tax
Deed is
issued by the Clerk. The owner may redeem the property until the
entire balance is
paid in full and the Tax Deed is signed by the Clerk.

5:00 p.m.
